Dr. Banda specializes in neuro- and gender-affirming neuropsychological, psychological, and psychoeducational evaluations. Typical areas evaluated include cognitive ability, academic skills (e.g., reading, writing, math, spelling, etc.), memory, executive functioning, social development, emotional factors, and behavioral challenges. This includes evaluations for ADHD, autism, learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia), autism, anxiety, mood disorders (e.g., depression), and developmental delays.

A neuropsychological evaluation helps understand how your brain works and can include a variety of assessments/measures. Areas assessed are based on the referral question and may include:

  • Cognitive development (intelligence/IQ)
  • Attention
  • Learning and memory
  • Executive functions
  • Visual-Motor skills
  • Academic achievement
  • Language
  • Social, emotional, and behavioral functioning
  • Adaptive skills

A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of a student’s cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning for the purposes of identifying learning differences. Psychoeducational evaluations can inform educational planning, assist in advocacy for academic accommodations, and help determine potential need for specialized instruction at school.

A psychological evaluation is a mental health assessment focused on understanding a person’s behavior, personality, social functioning, and other personal factors that influence daily living. It can help identify psychological factors that may be affecting a person’s ability to think, behave, or regulate emotions. Psychological evaluations can help identifying the severity of symptoms, identify the underlying causes of emotional challenges, and gain insight into an individual’s personality. They generally consist of clinical interviewing and questionnaires.

We do not do testing for concussions, traumatic brain injuries, or chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Banda works with children from toddlerhood through young adults that are in college.

You do not need to be formally referred by your primary care physician or other provider.

  • Completion of intake paperwork.
  • 90-minute clinical intake/diagnostic interview.
  • 1-2 days of 2-4 hours of testing.
  • Completion of rating scales by the individual being testing and/or by caregivers.
  • Feedback session to discuss results and recommendations.
  • Testing is scheduled for 4 hours from 9:00am to 1:00pm, with the possibility of finishing sooner. This allows enough time for children that may need more time to adjust, need to take frequent breaks, etc.
  • Parents of children remain in the waiting room while their child is being tested, unless we plan otherwise for clinical reasons.
  • For children under the age of 5, parents join the testing session for part, if not all, of the testing session.
