About Dr. Banda

Dr. Banda is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Psychologist who has dedicated her career to helping children, teens, and young adults better understand themselves and thrive. She specializes in comprehensive, gender- and neuro-affirming evaluations that highlight strengths while clarifying differences such as autism, ADHD, learning challenges, developmental delays, and mood concerns.

With experience in both schools and outpatient clinics, Dr. Banda understands how struggles can show up at home, in the classroom, and in daily life. She has partnered with programs like Head Start to support early development and has worked closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to make sure children receive the care and resources they need. She also brings expertise in assessing children in the foster system, with a deep awareness of how stress and trauma can shape development.

Every evaluation with Dr. Banda is a collaborative process. She tailors each assessment to the individual, taking into account personal concerns, history, and goals. After testing, she spends time walking families through the results, answering questions, and providing clear recommendations. She remains available for ongoing support, so families feel empowered to use what they have learned in practical, meaningful ways.

Her guiding philosophy is simple: every child deserves to be understood, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

Dr. Banda earned her doctoral degree in School Psychology from Texas A&M University and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in infant and early childhood mental health at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She has been in private practice for over 15 years and has called Pittsburgh home for the past seven years.
