Testing Fees

At Enlightened Assessment, we believe evaluations should be thorough, individualized, and useful. That is why we are an out-of-network/private pay practice. Our fees reflect the time and care we invest in understanding your child. We will always provide a clear estimate before testing begins so there are no surprises.

Insurance companies often limit the time allowed for testing, restrict which areas can be evaluated, or deny coverage for educational concerns like learning differences. These restrictions can lead to incomplete assessments that do not answer your questions or leave important needs undiscovered.

By remaining private pay, we are able to:

  • Tailor every evaluation to your child’s unique strengths, challenges, and goals without being forced into a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Take the time needed to fully understand your child. This means longer sessions when necessary, collaboration with teachers or other providers, and no rushing.
  • Provide detailed, actionable recommendations that go beyond what insurance-based reports typically include. Our reports are written for you—not just for billing codes.
  • Include academic testing (such as for dyslexia or dyscalculia), which insurance companies almost never cover but which is often essential for understanding a child’s learning profile.

We know private pay is an investment, but families consistently tell us the clarity and direction they gain is life-changing—making the difference between frustration and a clear path forward.

Fee Structure

Clinical Intake (90 minutes): $240
After the intake, you will receive an estimate of the total cost of testing based on your goals and concerns. If, together, we decide testing is not the best next step, we will provide alternate recommendations or referrals.

Comprehensive Testing: $1,250 – $3,000 (not including intake)
The total depends on the type of evaluation, number of sessions, and complexity of the questions being addressed. There are no hidden fees.

Payment:

  • Intake fee is due at the time of scheduling.
  • The estimated cost of the evaluation is due on the day of testing,
  • Any balance is adjusted once the report is complete.

We accept all major credit cards, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

Insurance Reimbursement

While we do not bill insurance directly, we are an insurance-friendly practice. At the conclusion of testing, we provide all the paperwork you will need to submit an out-of-network claim for possible reimbursement. Please note that academic testing is not covered by insurance and will not be reimbursed.

Cancelation Policy:

Because evaluations involve significant preparation and time, we require 72 hours’ notice for any canceled intake, testing, or feedback session.

  • Intake: $150 fee if canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice.
  • Testing session: $750 fee if canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice.
  • Feedback session: $150 fee if canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice.

Late arrival to testing will shorten the amount of time available for assessment. Telehealth appointments must be conducted from a safe, private location in Pennsylvania. If these requirements are not met, the session will be canceled and a cancellation fee applied.

Choosing private-pay testing means choosing an evaluation that is thorough, affirming, and free from insurance restrictions. It is an investment in clarity, peace of mind, and a stronger foundation for your child’s future.
